Support Our Local Farms!!

HOCO Harvest For the Hungry Open and Accepting Deer for the 2022-23 Season!

Attention Hunters and Farmers:   The Office of Community Sustainability, in partnership with the Howard County Economic Development Authority, are working to control the deer population and provide needed proteins to our local food banks by paying for deer processing when hunters donate deer at participating processors.  We encourage all hunters hunting in Howard County to participate in this program to help our community.   This program will be open until we harvest a total of 120 deer.

How does it work?

· This program is only for deer taken in Howard County, Maryland.

· Field dress, tag your deer, and keep it cold! Register your deer with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources:
http://www.eregulations.com/maryland/hunting/deer-turkey-tagging-checking/

· Take your deer to one of the participating venison processors listed.  If you drop off to a 24 hour freezer at one of the participating processors note on your tag you are donating to HOCO Harvest and include your phone number & email.

· Your deer will be processed and delivered to one of several Howard County food banks free of charge to you.
